Local Nonprofit Becomes Brewmasters at The Runaway

Women For Tomorrow was a 100 Women Who Care - western racine county Recipient

BURLINGTON — A local nonprofit is brewing up something special at The Runaway Micropub and Nanobrewery.

Women For Tomorrow is a group of area women instilling positivity in the community by making tomorrow better than today.

Three of its members visited The Runaway on Tuesday, February 24 to get started on one of The Runaway’s newest beers: Scholar Sip Wheat.

“It’s a wheat beer with notes of orange,” Women For Tomorrow Founder Natalie Scherff said. “It’s light and refreshing.”

The new brew should be available sometime next month. One dollar of every Scholar Sip Wheat sold goes to support Women For Tomorrow’s Annual Adult Prom on Friday, April 17 at Veterans Memorial Hall in Burlington.

“One of the goals of The Runaway besides making great beer is to give back to the community,” The Runaway owner Bernard Petersen said. “I really wanted to get behind them and do whatever I could to help their cause.”

Women for Tomorrow is entering its third year. The group gained momentum after being named a recipient of last year’s 100 Women Who Care - Western Racine County, hosted by Community State Bank.

The fifth annual 100 Women Who Care - Western Racine County will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at Mercantile Hall in Burlington.

The group meets annually to learn and support local charities. Each attendee brings $100 ($50 for attendees under 30) and those funds are donated to a charitable cause selected by the group. Its mission is to use the power of collective giving to make a difference in our community.
