Businesses Report Suspicious Phone Calls from Impersonators
UNION GROVE — Community State Bank is focused on taking all precautionary measures to keep its customer accounts safe and secure.
CSB is aware of recent, suspicious phone calls to our business customers involving fraudsters trying to impersonate CSB employees.
“Scammers are constantly looking for opportunities to take advantage of others,” said CSB’s Molly Krause, VP | Cash Management Manager. “At CSB, we work hard every day to protect our customers and the trust they place in us.”
CSB will never contact customers asking for private account information. Contact CSB directly if you receive a call asking for online banking credentials, token pin, passwords or password resets.
WAYS TO PROTECT YOURSELF
- Enroll in Alerts for real-time updates of your account's activity. Learn more HERE.
- Review your account daily
- Verify any Automated Clearing House (ACH) or wire changes directly with your vendor. Do not call the number in the email, call your vendor directly.
- Sign up for Positive Pay
- Review internal security measures with your employees
- Be aware of mail theft. Make sure checks are sent to trusted locations.
- Explore business insurance. Does it cover cybersecurity-related events?
CSB encourages its customers to use easy, effective fraud-prevention tools like Positive Pay. It allows businesses to review, approve or reject incoming ACH debits and credits before they post to their account.
“It acts like a steel door for your funds, allowing only approved transactions through and keeping fraudulent activity out,” Krause said.
Signing up for account alerts is also an immediate, effective way of staying on top of any account activity.
“Alerts are a great way of tracking your finances in real time,” said CSB’s Laura Burnett Shoemaker, VP | Market President (Kenosha County). “Unauthorized transactions can be recognized quickly, allowing customers an opportunity to contact us and stop potential fraud."
If you have recently given out any information or received a phone call requesting confidential information including usernames, token PIN, password, or had a password reset link to you, please contact CSB directly at (262) 878-3763.
