Supporting Local Individuals with a Warm Meal in a Time of Need
When the holidays approach each year, many of us begin planning for our big events and family meals. The holidays revolve around food and gifts. I always happen to take a moment and think about those less fortunate and think about the stress placed on them to simply get a warm meal on the table for their family. I especially think about seniors who unfortunately are dealing with this issue. I wanted to support a cause this year that related back to this issue. I'm happy to have provided my #Gift2Giving donation to Aging and Disability Resource Center of Racine (ADRC) - Meals on Wheels Program.
The reason I chose the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Racine County as my recipient is from the experience I had with my mother-in-law. When Covid began my wife and I were very concerned about food options for my mother-in-law who doesn’t drive. Due to illness, we were not always able to be her main source of assistance during this time.
We looked into the Meals on Wheels program which is run by ADRC of Racine County. The food programs; meals on wheels delivery and meals provided to senior centers around the county is amazing. I also learned that contrary to what public perception may be, this program is not a fully funded governmental program, but relies heavily on community donations. I am very grateful for ADRC and all they did to support our family. Thank you for all that you do for the community!
