LIST OF CSB LEADERSHIP GRADUATES CONTINUES TO GROW
UNION GROVE — Community State Bank continues making a positive impact in the communities it serves behind talented individuals who genuinely care about giving back and making a difference.
People like Ben Bruno, Joe Canfield and Kristy Ellis.
The CSB trio recently completed local community leadership programs aimed to connect participants to community organizations, issues and leaders, while building their network and developing essential leadership skills.
Bruno (Leadership Kenosha), Canfield (Leadership Racine) and Ellis (Leadership Union Grove) joined 15 of their CSB coworkers as community leadership graduates.
Bruno, a CSB AVP | Business Banker, led a five-member team tasked with starting a volunteer program at a Kenosha nonprofit. The group created a sustainable volunteer model at Hope Council, a local agency helping those with drug and alcohol addiction.
The award-winning project is already showing encouraging results with several new volunteers signed up, according to Hope Council Executive Director Michelle Sandberg.
“We are so appreciative,” Sandberg said. “The whole team knocked it out of the park.”
Leadership Kenosha awarded Bruno’s “Hope Dealers” as this year’s winning project.
“That was kind of the cherry on top,” Bruno said. “I think more than winning, though, was seeing actual results. If we were able to get people to volunteer, that means a lot to me.”
Ellis, a CSB Cash Management Support Specialist, also took a leading role in helping her graduating class come up with an impactful community project. The team worked together for months commemorating historic Union Grove with plaques to be displayed throughout the community.
“For me, Leadership Union Grove gave me a chance to really learn about the community,” Ellis said. “There are so many industries in the area, and it was apparent that the business owners have pride not only in where they work, but in the community they are a part of.”
Canfield, a CSB AVP | Mortgage Loan Officer, graduated from Leadership Racine on May 12.
His team worked with the Racine County Arts Initiative (RCAI) to bring awareness to the local arts scene, its impact on the community and its financial challenges.
“I now have a better understanding of how to be a better community member and look for opportunities to help in other ways,” Canfield said. “I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all about Racine. I am looking forward to continuing to learn more.”
There are 18 CSB employees that have completed local community leadership programs.
Leadership Union Grove graduates include Jenny Braun, Neil Buchanan, Nic Dawley, Ellis, Caitlyn Eulgen, Lisa Galvan, Kenzie Graf, Brian Lois, Shelly Petrick, Becky Springer and Jody Vollmer.
Leadership Kenosha graduates include Bruno, Buchanan, Jay Cashmore, Brittany Nickerson, Robert Pieroni and Casey Swetland. Canfield and Amanda Campagna completed Leadership Racine.
