A Thoughtful Donation story that Takes Us "Back to School"
I had the pleasure of being at Tall Oaks Academy for the start of their 2022/2023 school year. Our CSB team brought our brand vehicle “Cruiser” (a reimagined 1950’s Shasta camper) to the school to provide donuts to parents, students, and staff as everyone gathered at the school for the first day of school. In this case, it was the very first day the school opened its doors, so it truly was the first, “First Day of School”.
One of the things I recall most about that late summer morning was how enthusiastic, cheerful, and optimistic everyone seemed to be. Of course, there were a few apprehensive students, but moms and dads do what they do, and settled young nerves and dried a few tears. Then, in a very organized fashion, grade by grade, everyone entered the school; both students and staff starting a new endeavor together.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about the school at the time; only that our Kenosha banking team had asked us to have Cruiser ready for the first day of school. However, after speaking with several staff members and a few parents, I wanted to learn more.
Tall Oaks Academy is a faith based school that focuses on a Classic Christian Education. Their curriculum includes an emphasis on the Seven Liberal Arts: logic, grammar, rhetoric, arithmetic, astronomy, geometry, and music. According to the school, “The seven liberal arts are skills that enable a person to learn for themselves, direct themselves, and lead others well. They cultivate one’s reasoning skills and provide one with the tools of learning…”
Tall Oaks Academy teaches students “How to think” and not “What to think”, and has taken a leap of faith in every sense of the word. I’m happy to support them with my 2022 Gift2Giving donation, and look forward to their growth and continued success.
